YVC (Youth Voices Community) is a community based organization committed to empowering refugees, youth, and vulnerable groups through education, advocacy, and skill development. We believe that every individual, regardless of background or circumstance, has the potential to create a better future when given the right opportunities.
Youth Voices Community (YVC) envisions communities where all feel safe, valued, and empowered. We are a refugee-led organization based in Kenya and serving refugee and host communities in Nairobi and in camps across the country. The communities we serve come from across the African continent – Somalia, South Sudan, Burundi, DRC, Rwanda, and Mozambique. The people in our communities have different languages, different faiths, and different cultures, but what we all share is that we are refugees, making lives in a welcoming country, but one that is not our own.
Our approach is community-led and inclusive. We collaborate with local leaders, institutions, and partners to break down systemic barriers and address inequality from its root.
Whether it’s through digital literacy programs in informal settlements, legal clinics for marginalized groups, Or platforms that amplify youth advocacy, our mission remains the same: to create a just and equal Kenya where every person can thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development.
YVC offers its community sports programs for social integration across refugee and host communities and mental health and well-being. Engaging youth in sports also allows YVC to send other messages about education, social rights and responsibilities, and program opportunities that are available to them.
