Emergency Responses - The COVID 19

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused social-economic disruptions all over the world, with refugees and marginalized communities among the most affected. This is because most depend on informal jobs that pay daily wages. The pandemic has led to mobility constraints and other restrictions that have caused them to lose their income earning opportunities. With little or no income, this has placed severe stress on this population, especially those that are sick, elderly, unaccompanied minors and those with the large families.

With lack of food and Covid-19 response kits such as masks, soaps and sanitizers in the communities where we have vulnerable refugees and locals, Youth Voices of Community is leading the response. This is a youth led response through which we have provided food, masks, soap and sanitizers to help our community manage the economic effects of the pandemic and reduce the risk of contracting this deadly virus.

Families Supported

Despite the limited resources we have managed to support 160+ families with food packages which would sustain a family for 2-3 days.

Our Milestone

Additionally, we have distributed masks and soaps to help in preventing the spread of this deadly virus. The areas we have been able to serve are Kabiria, Kawangare and Waithaka in Dagoretti South Constituency, Nairobi Kenya.

1500

Our Goal

Our goal is to reach more than 1500 families and hence reduce the risk of these vulnerable people contracting the virus which would greatly affect them as they already have underlying challenges.
